Listing Guidelines
Our advertiser guidelines are designed to create a fair, effective, and profitable marketplace. Failure to comply with the guidelines listed below could result in poor click-through rates, and in some cases, suspension of advertising privileges.
Field lengths
People
viewing your ad will see three main elements: Title, Description, and
Display URL. Each element must adhere to these character limits:
| Character limits for listing
fields |
| Title |
50 Characters Max (including spaces) |
| Description |
100 Character Max (including spaces) |
| URL |
300 Character Max |
IBContent Categories
Ads should target the type of customers who might be surfing a particular subject area. For example, it stands to reason that a listing that appears within digital media content should target digital media professioanls. This could be a great place to promote graphic design programs, memory chips, gaming equipment, macintosh computers.
Multiple Listings
Advertisers are not allowed to have the same Search Term for multiple URL?s. IndustryBrains is a fair marketplace and we do not want one advertiser holding a monopoly over a particular search term.
Writing Effective Ad Copy
Your ad is a gateway to your business as it is the first thing a potential customer may see. A successful ad should be well-written, specific and compelling in order for you to receive highly-target traffic, improve your campaign ROI and for a better user experience overall.
Titles & Descriptions
Titles and Descriptions must be relevant to the search term/category as well as the site they are referring to. Having effective titles and descriptions will increase your chances of driving targeted buyers to your site. IndustryBrains will deny all listings that have text in ALL CAPS. In addition, URL's and Phone numbers within the listing information will also be denied.
Display URL
The display URL is the web address shown in the ad and seen by potential customers. It does not need to be the same as your destination URL but it should reflect an actual URL for your site and promote the exact product/service web users are searching for rather than the general pages. It is recommended best practice to use the 'www' prefix at the beginning of an ad's display URL although not required.
Destination URL
The destinantion URL is the actual URL of the landing page that is displayed when an ad is clicked. The destination URL should be complete and functional and should land on a site owned by the advertiser.
Can I use all capital letters in my listing?
No. Listings that feature all caps in the title or description will generally not be approved. Exceptions include acronyms (DVD) or a trademarked brand name.
Restricted Advertisements
The following types of advertisements are prohibited:
- Gambling or Sports Betting Advertisements
- Adult Advertisement
